High Holiday Registration 2021
Monday, September 6, 2021 • 29 Elul 5781
All DayDear Friends,
It is with great joy and gratitude to the One above that we invite you to participate in this year’s High Holiday services. No outdoor services, no people staying home due to fear of infection, no running from minyan to minyan, no mandatory mask-wearing, it will be the High Holiday services that we know and love. Though it will be the same as it has been in the past, it will also be very different. We have lost dear members of our congregation, we have welcomed new members into the congregation and new children into the world. We have faced many setbacks and fought valiantly to overcome them and we have gained new appreciation for so many of the small things in life. The familiar and reassuring cycle of our Jewish calendar gives us an opportunity to reflect on how much we have changed over the course of the year. I’d venture to say we have all changed a lot. Now is the time to take stock of those changes; celebrate the good ones, work on the not as good, and continue to grow.
Our shared home, the Ner Tamid synagogue has also changed during this time. Our school wing is undergoing major renovations, the yards around the shul have been enhanced, and at the same time, our building continues to age. Last year at this time, our congregation opened their hearts and checkbooks and gave generously to our #NerTamidStrong campaign. Thank G-d, we are not in a time of crisis and for that we are grateful, but we still need your help. Our beloved shul is kept going through your generosity.
On this webpage, you will find information for our High Holiday services. You will also see an option to contribute to the shul through our operations appeal. We need your help today more than ever. There is still much work to be done. If you are blessed to be in the position to do so, please donate generously to this campaign to keep Ner Tamid strong.
We have grown as a community over the past year and a half. We demonstrated resilience, used creativity to stay connected to one another and to our shared heritage, and persevered. I look forward to spending the coming year together in person and growing together as a congregation.
With much gratitude, wishing you a sweet new year,
Yisrael Motzen
